Sensory Profile

After impressing with a gold-yellow colour with coppery highlights, our Ra’is offers intensely fragrant citrus and candied fruit that find their perfect foil in smooth honey and dried dates. On the palate it is at the same time both slightly sweet and refreshingly crisp, displaying admirable balance between sweetness and acidity.

Pairings

Ra’is is heavenly when served with traditional Italian desserts and with classic almond cookies.

Dessert wines & Spirits

A grappa and a naturally-produced passito wine complete Baglio di Pianetto’s portfolio. Both are ideal for a convivial gathering of friends or family, or sipped in meditational solitude! Both are the entree for a sensory adventure among the alluring scents and fine flavours of a Sicily that always surprises.

Fermentation and Maturation

After the grapes are quality-selected and picked, the berries are gently pressed and the must ferments at a low temperature for 2 months; one lot of wine then matures sur lie in steel for 1 year, while the rest of the wine rests in oak barrels the same period of time. After botting, the wine ages for 2 years.
