The DOC of Monreale

The area of production of the Monreale DOC extends in an area of north-western Sicily that includes several municipalities of the Alto Belice Corleonese up to the Alcamo territory, in the province of Trapani. A DOC that broadly reproduced the vastness of the Ancient Archbishopric of Monreale, founded in the Norman age by William II of Altavilla and which, in history, has always had a role of aggregation of many important winemakers of Western Sicily . Today the DOC of Monreale lives a new season of revival and piano beam wants to share the commitment with productions able to reveal all the potential of the territory.

Technical Notes

The grapes are picked in the course of three separate harvests: an early picking of slightly under-ripe fruit in order to obtain a higher acidic concentration; a second harvest to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness; a late third harvest of slightly raisined grapes, which impart sweetness and exceptional aromas.
